Options for Alzheimer's Disease - Hearts (and Minds) Failing Us

Alzheimer's disease - along with many other chronic health conditions - are dramatically on the rise. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. It's the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. In 2017, Alzheimer's disease will cost the nation $259 billion. And it's estimated that by 2025 it'll cost the nation close to $1.1 trillion! 1 in 3 seniors die with Alzheimer's or dementia. Since 2000, deaths from Alzheimer's has increased by 89%!

To say the least, Alzheimer's is a growing problem that we should at least know some solutions to - whether we have someone in our life who has Alzheimer's disease or not (yet). In the scriptures we are told that in the last days, "men's hearts shall fail them" - I think it's safe to say that their minds will fail them as well.

I recently had a friend of a friend reach out to me asking me what she could do to help her mother with Alzheimer's. Her mom was only 41 years old when an aggressive form of Alzheimer's hit her. She's now 45 and all she's capable of doing on her own is eating and walking.

My grandpa had severe Alzheimer's and I know I'm susceptible to it as well. Because of this, I've kept my eye on articles and studies about preventing, reversing or halting the progression of Alzheimer's for many years now.

What Causes Alzheimer's?

Alzheimer's is caused by brain cell death. It is a neurodegenerative disease, which means there is progressive brain cell death that happens over a course of time. The total brain size shrinks with Alzheimer's - the tissue has progressively fewer nerve cells and connections. Scientists do not yet fully understand what causes Alzheimer's disease in most people.

Whenever scientists have not been able to pinpoint the cause of a chronic health issue - that tells me that this condition, more than likely, isn't caused by just one issue. It's probably a mix of things that are causing the issue such as a lack of important nutrients, heavy metals, pathogens, etc.

My question is - what other things might be causing the deterioration of the brain aside from its unknown causes? My brother-in-law lost his father to an aggressive form of Alzheimer's at a young age. It started with confusion and quickly deteriorated to his death only 8 months later. This does not tell me that it is a simple genetic disposition to this disease. This tells me that there was an aggressive pathogen or absence of essential nutrients causing/keeping his brain from deteriorating at such a rapid pace.

My research has led me to believe that there are a hand full of causes for Alzheimer's / Dementia and they are as follows:

- A lack of adequate blood flow to the brain.
- A lack of good fats (Omega 3's) saturating the brain
- A lack of essential nutrients to strengthen and fortify the brain (Vitamin B12, Iodine, Silica, Vitamin D & A, etc)
- Pathogens causing the deterioration (bacteria, viruses, or fungi)
- Heavy Metals in brain - damaging brain and causing its deterioration.

What Can We Do For Alzheimer's?

After doing some research, I've formulated what I'd do for someone with Alzheimer's. Each of the supplements / remedies listed below address the possible causes of Alzheimer's disease listed above and are options that have worked miracles for many. Here are the supplements I'd give a person with Alzheimer's / Dementia to help halt / reverse the condition:
  • Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (3-6 T, 3 x per day) (Costco carries it as well as do health food stores)
  • High Doses of Vitamin B12  2-3 x day - under the tongue or spray/drops might be easiest to take.
  • Niacinamide (time-release 1500mg, 2 x day) Note: I'd start slower, at 500mg, 2xday instead of 1500mg, 2xday)
  • Mycellized Vitamin A (start at 5,000 IU/day)
  • HypoRedox - A non-toxic solution that would eradicate all underlying bacterial infections that could be contributing to or even causing the problem.
  • Nattokinase - an enzyme that will help break down and remove the plague. (Take according to directions on bottle, or more, if you feel it's necessary.)
  • A good, high quality multi-vitamin taken with meals - 2 x day.
  • Vitamin D3 - 5,000 - 10,000 IU, 1 x day
  • Drink bentonite clay water - to draw out heavy metals from the body and re-introduce silica into the body which is known to reduce the symptoms of Alzheimer's. (1 tsp of clay in glass of water, stir, allow sediment to settle, drink water off top. Or make a pitcher of the clay water by placing 1/4 cup in large pitcher, stir until well combined, allow to settle, drink water off top, no refrigeration is necessary.) Note: ONLY drink if NOT taking any prescription medications. It will reduce the efficacy of prescription medications - especially blood thinners. You can try to take it 2-3 hours away from other prescription medications so it won't pull that out of the body.) Buy 24 oz to try here. Or buy 6lb tub here.
  • Iodine - 1-2 pills, once a day.

I realize this may seem like a bit much but one thing to keep in mind is that sometimes just ONE of these works the miracles! I'd start with all and then cut back on one or two to see the progress of the person or you can start with one and see if it's helping at all. The first options I'd try are the top four listed above.

Please keep in mind to take the vitamins with food (or some fats) so the fats in the food help the body break down and use the vitamins. (This isn't necessary for water soluble vitamins like vitmain B's and vitamin C.)

Make sure to purchase all products from a reputable or local health store - not places like Walmart. I've given some recommendations as to where you can purchase most of these but please know that there are many great options for each of these.

I would also consider these three options:

- Omega 3's (in the form of flaxseed oil or krill oil)
- Pure fish oil
- Alpha Lipoic Acid
